Enugu Governor Nominates Electoral Commission Chairman and Members

Dr. Peter Mbah, the Governor of Enugu State, has given his approval for the selection of Prof Christian C. Ngwu to serve as the Chairman of Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission.

The announcement of the appointment was made in a public service notice signed by Prof Chidiebere Onyia, the Secretary to the State Government.

In addition, the governor has also restructured various statutory bodies, which include the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, Enugu State Hospital Management Board, and Enugu State Agency For Universal Health Coverage.

In line with this, Dr. Eric Odo has been appointed as the Chairman of the Enugu State Hospital Management Board and Dr. Edith Okolo as the Chairman of Enugu State Agency for Universal Health Coverage.

The government has also revealed that Igwe Samuel Asadu will now serve as the chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council.

The statement issued on Friday reads in part: “The Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has approved the reconstitution of statutory and other bodies in the state with the following appointments:

“Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council: His Royal Highness, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu – Chairman; His Royal Highness, Igwe Julius Nnaji – first Deputy Chairman; His Royal Highness, Igwe G. N. Madu – second Deputy Chairman; His Royal Highness, Igwe Hebert Ukuta – third Deputy Chairman; His Royal Highness, Igwe Fidelis Nwatu – Grand Patron; His Royal Highness, Igwe Abel Nwobodo – first Grand Patron; His Royal Highness, Igwe Augustine Uzobuenyi Otiji – second Grand Patron, and His Royal Highness, Igwe H. C. Eze – third Grand Patron.”

“Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC): Professor Christian C. Ngwu – Chairman; Solomon Udeh, Member (re-appointed); Chinenyenwa A. Ogbu, Member (re-appointed); George Obiora Ani, Member (re-appointed); Arthur Ifeanyi Ede, Member; Paully Eze, Member; Emmanuel Ogbodo, member; Emeka G. Ukwuaba, member, while Ifesinachi Umeobika serves as the secretary.”

It has been mentioned that their nominations are subject to confirmation by the Enugu State House of Assembly.
