AC Milan Coach Explains Why Chukwueze Didn’t Start Against Juventus in Serie A
Stefano Pioli, the manager of AC Milan, has clarified the rationale behind benching Samuel Chukwueze in the match against Juventus on Saturday. Despite his recent impressive performances for the Rossoneri, the Nigeria international was surprisingly left out of the starting lineup against the Bianconeri.
Pioli revealed that he had to prioritize a midfielder over Chukwueze in the team formation. He explained, “I opted for Pulisic (against Juventus). Although Chukwueze is a good option, I chose not to compromise an additional midfielder for a lineup with four attacking players. Hence, Chukwueze was the one who had to make the sacrifice in that moment,” as stated by Pioli in an interview with Milan News.
