‘I will not lead in submission, they are aiming to ruin Rivers’ – Fubara

Declaring his refusal to act as a subservient leader, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State emphasized that he will not govern while bowing down.

He expressed dismay over what he described as ongoing attempts to dismantle the essence of the state.

These remarks come amid the looming dispute with his immediate predecessor and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, regarding state control.

Nonetheless, the governor criticized the malevolence in politics and animosity, highlighting its detrimental impact on the state’s advancement.

Fubara made these statements at the Ubima residence of former state governor, Sir Celestine Omehia, situated in Ikwerre Local Government Area.

He, accompanied by a group of elder statesmen, visited the former governor to offer their sympathies following the recent demise of his mother, Mrs. Ezinne Cecilia Omehia.

In Fubara’s words: “I am here with a select few respected elders from the state to extend our support and convey our sorrow to you.

“It is paramount to display our care and compassion. Anyone who harbors hostility towards death lacks rationality.

“Additionally, we celebrate with you for a life lived to its fullest by Mama. We bid Mama a peaceful journey. May she dwell harmoniously in her new abode.

“I affirm that I will not, I reiterate, I will not govern our beloved state in a submissive manner. If that was the intent, I decline. I will lead our beloved state standing upright, consistently aligned with what is just.”
