Distress Call from Mohbad’s Widow: Threats to Our Lives

Omowunmi, the widow of the late Nigerian singer named Mohbad (real name Ilerioluwa Aloba), is speaking out about ongoing threats against herself and her son Liam, who she had with the late singer. She has reached out to Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, to obtain a court order for a DNA test for Liam to address the paternity issue.

Aloba had previously urged the Nigerian Police to summon Omowunmi to provide information about his son’s death and to conduct a DNA test to confirm Liam’s paternity. However, in a series of Instagram posts, Mohbad’s widow expressed that she is facing similar threats to what Mohbad experienced before his passing.

“We are in your hands, Nigerians! Will you let what happened to Ilerioluwa happen to us? We face threats every day. Our freedom has been taken away! Nigerians, please help us,” she wrote.

She found it perplexing that Liam’s grandfather, who had pushed for them to have a child, is now the one requesting a DNA test. She questioned, “Why is he tarnishing the legacy left behind by his son?”

She mentioned her readiness to undergo the DNA test once her father-in-law provides the necessary court order. “Go and obtain a court order because it’s time for me to prove my detractors wrong,” Omowunmi stated.

Moreover, in an earlier Instagram Live session, Omowunmi disclosed that her son is not able to enjoy the same freedoms as other children, as some individuals are threatening their safety.

She pleaded, “I have never done this before, but I must speak up for my son, Liam. They have threatened us multiple times, saying they will harm us. They have cursed my son, claiming he won’t live past one year, just like they did to Mohbad.”

“Nigerians, please assist me! I’m doing this for Liam’s sake. I will fight for him with all my strength if anyone tries to harm him,” she added.

She continued, “I am calling on Nigerians to come to my aid. Even if something happens to me, please protect Liam. They are depriving my son of his rights, but today I ask Nigerians to help me. They are subjecting me to fear for my life, and I can’t even go out in public.”

“This is the same ordeal Mohbad went through without any assistance. Please, Nigerians, lend your support. When my husband was alive, he was not involved in illegal activities. They are using the DNA test to silence me,” she expressed passionately.

Furthermore, she implored, “Please instruct my father-in-law to present a court order for the DNA test. He is avoiding it because he takes pleasure in the daily attacks on Liam. This is my son, whom I carried for ten months. All mothers, please stand by me.”
