Banyana keeper confident ahead of clash with Falcons
Kaylin Swart, the goalkeeper for Bayana Bayana, acknowledges the challenge of facing the Super Falcons but expresses readiness for their crucial final Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers against their long-standing rivals.
The two teams have built a fierce rivalry over the years and are considered the powerhouses of African football due to recent achievements, with South Africa having the upper hand in recent encounters.
Banyana emerged victorious in their last two matches against Nigeria: the 2022 Women’s Afcon in Morocco and the 2021 Aisha Buhari Cup on Nigerian soil, both of which Banyana went on to win.
Swart remarked, “Playing in Nigeria is always challenging, but we have had success there. It will be another tough battle, but we are prepared for it.”
“Given that we are in the season now (in the SA Super League), I believe we have made significant improvements. Our teams have progressed, and there has been a rise in individual skill levels.
“The coaches are enthusiastic about our progress. We are currently gearing up for the upcoming game, and both individuals and the team are in high spirits.”
