In a recent address to party members, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, declared Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State as the undisputed leader of the party within the state, commanding full control over its structure.

Secondus made these remarks following a meeting with former members of the Rivers State PDP Presidential Campaign Council in Port Harcourt.

He affirmed, “Governor Fubara holds complete authority over the party structure in Rivers State. It is clear that the governor leads the party and exercises complete control.

“During my tenure as national chairman, I empowered all my governors with 100% control over their respective party structures in their states. This principle remains unchanged. Governor Fubara will have full control over the party structure.”

Expanding on the party’s dynamics in the state post-election, Secondus acknowledged divergent views on loyalty within the party. Some members remained steadfast, while others engaged in activities contrary to the party’s interests.

“For the greater good of our state, Governor Fubara has articulated the need for reconciliation and unity. Forgiveness should extend from the grassroots up to the local government level to foster inclusivity,” he insisted.

He emphasized Fubara’s call for unity without discrimination, emphasizing the paramount importance of the state’s welfare.

“We urge all leaders, including former local government and party chairpersons, to collaborate harmoniously with fellow members. Let there be no animosity hindering cooperation at the grassroots levels. Plans for upcoming meetings and initiatives will be communicated soon,” he added.

Secondus stressed the governor’s pivotal role as the sole authority capable of issuing directives with absolute obedience from party members.

“While there may be temporary challenges at the national level, the ruling party, APC, faces internal strife. Our goal is to rally together, welcoming all allies from other parties, to secure victory for our governor in 2027. We stand united on home ground against those seeking refuge in Abuja. Our resolve is unwavering,” he asserted.

He drew parallels with historical events in 1983, highlighting the resilience of grassroots leaders like Chief Melford Okilo against external influence.

“The strength of Rivers State lies in our unity and steadfastness. We are poised to defend our territory against any external threats, echoing the failed attempts of 1983,” he recalled.
