Ruben Amorim issues apology for failed transfer to English club
The manager of Sporting CP, Rúben Amorim, expressed regret to the club and its supporters for his recent trip to London to engage in discussions with West Ham.
Amorim had flown to London to explore the possibility of a move to the Premier League in the upcoming season.
Reports also indicated that he was a target for Liverpool before the club signed Feyenoord’s Arne Slot in a deal reportedly involving £9.4m.
When questioned about his London visit, the Portuguese coach told the media, “It was an error in judgment. The timing was completely inappropriate.
“I always stress the importance of respect to my players…and I failed to adhere to that, even though I had informed the club in advance.
“I deeply regret my actions and offer my apologies to the fans, the club, and the players.”
