During the inauguration of the first phase of the Siun-Owode-Ofada Road in Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun affirmed his administration’s dedication to infrastructure development, specifically focusing on road construction to spur economic growth and progress.

Emphasizing the significance of road development for the state’s advancement, Abiodun highlighted the role of roads in connecting communities and driving economic activities.

Abiodun, in the presence of Kwara State Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRasak, stated that the rehabilitated road would serve as a viable alternative to the congested Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, benefiting the socio-economic landscape of the surrounding areas.

He articulated, “This road plays a crucial role in linking communities, stimulating local economies, and facilitating travel from Abeokuta to Siun, Owode, and Mowe. The area is a hub for daily commuters between Lagos and Abeokuta.”

Highlighting the completion of the Mowe-Ofada Road and future projects like the Ilaro-Owode Road and Gateway International Cargo Airport at Ilisan, Abiodun indicated that road development remained a top priority for his administration.

Abiodun mentioned various roads in the Ogun Central Senatorial District that had received attention, acknowledging delays in some projects attributed to fluctuating construction material prices.

He explained, “Despite challenges with material costs, road construction is essential for facilitating transportation of goods, services, and people. The sector also serves as a significant source of employment. We are committed to continuous progress in construction projects.”

AbdulRasak, also the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, commended Ogun State’s infrastructural advancements and urged leaders nationwide to emulate the state’s provision of essential infrastructure for democratic dividends.

Among the attendees were Senator Shuaib Salis representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Yemi Sanusi, State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, and Adesina Ogunsola, Chairman of Obafemi Owode LG, among others.
