FRSC’s Easter Deployment in Akwa Ibom: Over 660 Personnel on Duty

For the Easter celebration, the Federal Road Safety Corps Akwa Ibom State Command has assigned a total of 662 personnel, including Special Marshalls. Their task is to enhance visibility and ensure smooth traffic flow during the holidays.

Additionally, 10 patrol vehicles, two ambulances, and one tow truck have been deployed to cover key areas efficiently, provide quick response to distress calls, and promptly clear road obstructions.

In an announcement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SRC Paul James, under the theme ‘Easter celebration: Need for safety consciousness,’ it was highlighted that the Easter season from Friday, 29th March to Monday, 1st April, 2024 will be observed globally.

During this period, Christians and other Nigerians will travel extensively to celebrate with loved ones. Hence, there is an anticipated surge in traffic, which may lead to congestion, blockades, and road accidents if not managed appropriately.

To safeguard all road users, the Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps, Akwa Ibom State Sector Command, Corps Commander Matthew O. Olonisaye, advises motorists, tricycle riders, and motorcyclists to avoid reckless driving.

Initiating measures to uphold safety and enhance traffic flow, a total of 662 personnel, including Special Marshals, have been strategically positioned on major routes in the state. Moreover, 10 patrol vehicles, two ambulances, and one tow truck are on standby for swift response to emergencies and efficient clearance of road blockades during the Easter period.
