Amotekun Commander: Ondo Poised for Launch of State Police
Adetunji Adeleye, the commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, has revealed that the state is fully prepared for the imminent establishment of state police.
He mentioned that all necessary arrangements for the security structure have been finalized by the state government.
Awaiting approval from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and the National Assembly, Adeleye emphasized the importance of state police as a vital solution to the current security issues prevalent in the nation.
During a press briefing at the headquarters of the corps in Alagbaka, Akure, the capital of Ondo state, he reiterated the significance of state police in addressing localized security concerns effectively.
“We have consistently argued that State Police is the most immediate resolution to the ongoing security challenges. Local police officers are well-acquainted with the environment and how to navigate it efficiently. Each region faces different security issues,” Adeleye stated.
“For instance, someone from a different region transferred to Ondo State may not be as adept at tackling security issues in specific areas like the local Amotekun officers. Our deep understanding of the terrain has greatly contributed to the achievements of the Ondo State Security Network so far.”
“In addition, we have a strong sense of community and can easily identify outsiders, enabling us to scrutinize individuals effectively. Ondo State is fully equipped and prepared for the seamless commencement of state policing operations,” he affirmed.
