Shettima Urges Political Leaders to Showcase Nigeria’s Cultural Diversity
Emphasizing the nation’s rich cultural diversity, Vice-President Kashim Shettima has called upon political figures to highlight its inherent beauty.
In a statement released by Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice-President’s spokesperson, Shettima made this appeal during the conferment of the Chieftaincy title of Asiwaju of Ijebuland to Dr. Sulaiman Adegunwa.
Shettima underlined the significance of serving humanity and promoting peaceful coexistence within the country.
He conveyed well wishes from President Bola Tinubu, praising the new Asiwaju as “a distinguished individual, dedicated to fostering harmonious relationships throughout the nation.”
Reflecting on the occasion, Shettima expressed, “This event we are here to witness is not just a celebration of the fusion of leadership and culture, but it also embodies the core of humanity, which is selfless service.”
“Just as we look splendid in our diverse attires, our diversity, heritage, and cultures exude a unique beauty rooted in our longstanding traditions,” he added.
The Vice-President urged Adegunwa to view his new role as a call to service, emphasizing that “our duty to this country requires sacrifices driven by love, tolerance, and unwavering commitment.”
