Corps Commander Stephen Dawulung, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Kwara State Command, has organized a team of 856 personnel for the Easter Special Patrol Operations. This special patrol is scheduled to take place from the 29th of March to the 2nd of April, 2024.

In a statement issued by the Public Education Officer of the Command, O.B Basambo, in Ilorin on Friday, it was revealed that the personnel include 276 Special Marshals and 123 First responders who will actively participate in the operations.

The goal of the Special Patrol is to decrease road traffic accidents and injuries, as well as ensure the smooth flow of traffic within Kwara State. To achieve this, 42 patrol vehicles, two power bikes, four ambulances, and other resources will be deployed.

As stated in the announcement, the special operation is prompted by the expected rise in vehicle movements on road networks in Kwara State during the Easter period, necessitating solutions to the traffic challenges associated with this surge.

Additionally, the Sector Commander has tasked personnel with managing traffic flow in specific areas of the Ilorin metropolis and other major cities in the state to prevent traffic congestion.

Motorists are strongly advised to steer clear of excessive speeding, overloading, disregarding traffic rules, and using worn-out tires, as these are primary causes of road accidents. Stephen stressed the importance of avoiding nighttime travels and taking a 30-minute break after every four hours of driving to prioritize safety and prevent fatigue.
