In preparation for the upcoming local government election in Ebonyi State on July 20, 2024, Governor Francis Nwifuru has emphasized that the imposition of candidates will not be tolerated.

Speaking during a church service at the Government House Chapel, the Governor pledged to ensure a fair and equitable process for all aspirants.

He stressed the importance of involving stakeholders and grassroots communities in selecting competent candidates to represent them.

These remarks were made during the Holy Mass held at the New Government House in Centenary City, Abakaliki, as revealed in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor.

Addressing the issue of security and community engagement, Nwifuru commended the Council Chairmen and urged re-election seekers to earn the trust and support of stakeholders and citizens.

Regarding candidate selection, he reiterated the party’s commitment to preventing any form of candidate imposition, asserting that as Governor, he would refrain from influencing the choice of the next local government chairman.

Furthermore, he advised government officials to avoid actions that could damage the government’s reputation.

Finally, he appealed to the people of Ebonyi to be patient and understanding, acknowledging that those in office are still in the initial stages of their tenure.
