Bandits, believed to be armed gunmen, have carried out a raid on the Allawa Community in Niger State’s Shiroro Local Government Area, looting food supplies and other valuable items.

This incident occurred just days after Nigerian military forces reportedly retreated from the area following frequent attacks.

Upon the soldiers’ departure, residents of the community had to flee to nearby areas for safety.

Mallam Yahuza Allawa, one of the locals, confirmed the recent intrusion to Daily Trust, recounting how the bandits entered Allawa and surrounding communities on a Sunday morning and stole their food provisions, livestock, and other precious possessions.

He mentioned that residents of Allawa, Saminaka, Gyra-Miyan, Unguwan Sarkin-Noma, and Kurmi had vacated the area since Thursday.

According to him, “The bandits arrived this morning and made off with our food supplies and valuables, including goats. Due to the lack of transportation, we couldn’t carry most of our belongings, forcing us to trek from one community to Erena.”

“They brought a truck for loading our food and valuables. The truck was parked by the riverside, and motorcycles were used to transport our items from the villages to the truck due to the road conditions,” Mallam Yahuza added.
