Increased Alertness by Kwara Police Following Jailbreak in Neighboring Niger
The Kwara State police command has implemented necessary measures to prevent any potential entry or harm by the escaped inmates from the Suleija custodial centre in neighboring Niger State.
On the night of April 24, 2024, a severe rainstorm caused extensive damage to the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Suleja, Niger State, resulting in the escape of 118 inmates.
In a statement by DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, the spokesperson for the Kwara command in Ilorin, it was emphasized that being a neighboring state, Kwara police are fully mindful of the security implications of the incident.
The Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, has assured that the command is on high alert and is collaborating closely with relevant agencies to ensure the safety and security of the state.
Emphasis was placed on the measures taken to prevent escaped inmates from entering or causing harm within Kwara State. Patrols along the border areas have been intensified, and surveillance in vulnerable locations has been heightened.
