Liverpool’s Title Hopes: A Daunting Challenge, Says Gakpo
Cody Gakpo, the Liverpool forward, concedes that winning the Premier League title would be a significant challenge.
Gakpo shared his thoughts following a 2-2 draw against West Ham over the weekend.
Despite falling behind to Jarrod Bowen’s goal, Liverpool bounced back in the second half with goals from Andy Robertson and an own goal by Alphonso Areola.
However, Michail Antonio’s header meant the game ended in a draw.
With 75 points, Liverpool currently trail league leaders Arsenal by two points. They are also one point behind Manchester City, who have played fewer games.
When asked about their title prospects, Gakpo acknowledged the challenge ahead.
He remarked, “We find ourselves in a very tough situation.”
“If Arsenal win, the gap will be five points, and Man City still have some catching up to do,” he added.
“It’s going to be an uphill battle, not impossible, but certainly very challenging,” Gakpo concluded.
