Tragic Incident in Zamfara: Four Dead, Six Abducted by Bandits

A fatal attack took place at the headquarters of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where gunmen suspected to be terrorists killed one person and abducted three others on Wednesday.

During a telephone interview with newsmen, an eyewitness named Abubakar Maru reported that the bandits launched their assault on the town at 11:13 pm.

The armed bandits roamed the town freely for more than two hours, causing panic among the residents. Many women and children have fled the town for their safety, according to Maru.

In Zurmi town, the headquarters of Zurmi Local Government Area, bandits attempted to abduct the emir of Zurmi, Alh. Bello Muhammed Bunu at around 10:30 pm on the same day.

A resident named Malam Ibrahim Zurmi disclosed that the terrorists targeted the emir’s palace and the residence of former military administrator of Nasarawa State, Col. Bala Mande.

The emir was rescued and taken to Gusau by security personnel. Unfortunately, three individuals were killed, and three others were abducted during the violent operation.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
