Tragic Incident in Taraba Community as Militias Claim Two Lives
Reports have emerged indicating that two individuals were tragically killed in Gbuo village, at Akate Ward in Donga Local Government Council, Taraba State, on Tuesday as suspected militias carried out a violent attack.
The assailants, as per information received by NewsNow, unleashed chaos in the village by firing shots indiscriminately, resulting in the loss of two lives.
Chief Ugondo Uma, the traditional ruler of the Tiv ethnic group in Donga Council, confirmed the incident on Thursday, labeling it as an unprovoked assault. Chief Uma highlighted that the attack occurred while farmers were peacefully engaged in their regular agricultural activities in the region and expressed concern over the increasing frequency of such violent events in the areas of Gbuo and Akinde villages without adequate security measures in place. He urged both the security forces and the state government to take necessary actions to prevent any recurrence of such tragic incidents.
During a briefing to the press on Thursday, the state command of the Nigerian Police Force reiterated its unwavering commitment to eradicating criminal elements causing distress to the state’s residents.
