The Passing of Senator Ayogu Eze Confirmed by Family

Confirmation has been received from the family of the late Senator Ayogu Eze, who served as the representative for Enugu North Senatorial District in the 6th & 7th National Assembly, regarding his demise.

News of his death was initially reported by NewsNow.

In a statement signed by Kenechukwu Ayogu Eze, the Senator’s first son, on behalf of the family, it was disclosed that Senator Eze passed away in the early hours of Thursday, April 24, 2024, at the age of 65, in an Abuja hospital following a brief illness.

During this difficult time, the family has requested prayers from friends and well-wishers.

“The pain we feel in our hearts right now is indescribable, and we are shattered as a family to share this news of his departure.

“Senator Eze was known for his warm heart and unwavering patriotism, dedicating himself diligently to serving the nation and humanity in various roles.”

Prior to his passing, the late Senator had served as a Commissioner for Information & Media and had been a Special Adviser in Enugu State.

At the time of his death, he was representing Enugu State at the RMFAC (Revenue Allocation Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission) and was also a member of the board of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

He had chaired the Senate Committee on Works and the Senate Committee on Information & Media at different points in his career.

Before venturing into politics, Eze had a distinguished career in journalism, attaining the rank of editor at both The Guardian and Newswatch magazine.
