A committee comprising 31 individuals has been established by the Emir of Minna, Dr Umaru Faruq Bahago, to tackle issues of thuggery, youth restiveness, and drug abuse among the youth in Minna and its neighboring areas.

During the committee’s inauguration in Minna, the Emir charged its members to execute their responsibilities efficiently in accordance with the prescribed guidelines.

Furthermore, he instructed the committee to collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies within the Minna Emirate to achieve the set goals.

In his statement, the Emir assured, “I pledge my full support at all times and emphasize that no individual intending to disrupt the existing peaceful atmosphere in the Emirate should be spared.”

Additionally, Nasiru Mohammed Mua’zu, the Niger State Commissioner for Justice, urged the committee to put a stop to thuggery and other criminal activities in the Minna Emirate.

He emphasized, “Youth restiveness and thuggery have no place in the Emirate, and thus, the committee has been formed to address this issue.”

Mua’zu also warned that individuals found with dangerous weapons, spreading fear, and destabilizing the peace would face legal consequences.

Earlier on, Hon. Nma Kolo Mohammed, the Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Governor of Niger State and Jowon Minna, highlighted the relative peace experienced in Minna and its environs since the committee’s formation two weeks ago.

He urged community leaders in the Emirate to be vigilant and prevent the infiltration of unwanted individuals to safeguard against potential threats.

Leading the committee is Alh. Umar Sanda as its chairman.
