Liverpool’s Pursuit of EPL Title Dented by 2-0 Defeat to Everton
In a significant setback for Liverpool’s aspirations to clinch the Premier League championship, they suffered a 2-0 loss against Everton in the Merseyside Derby on Wednesday night.
Heading into the match, the Reds were aware that only a win would enable them to stay in contention with Arsenal, who thrashed Chelsea 5-0 the day before.
However, it was the home team that took the lead with Jarrad Branthwaite scoring in the first half.
Despite Liverpool’s attempts to equalize in the second half, Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s commanding header extended Everton’s lead beyond reach.
As a result, Jurgen Klopp’s side remains at 74 points with only four games remaining.
They are just one point ahead of Manchester City, who still have two matches in hand.
