Former Celtic striker, Frank McAvennie, believes that Leon Balogun should maintain his position in the squad for Rangers – McAvennie
In the recent Scottish Cup victory over Hearts, Leon Balogun’s stellar performance has prompted former Celtic forward Frank McAvennie to advocate for his consistent inclusion in the Rangers team.
Rangers boss Philippe Clement chose to start Balogun for the first time since February in the 2-0 triumph.
The ex-Super Eagles defender vindicated the manager’s decision with a commanding defensive performance during the game.
McAvennie emphasized the importance of Balogun maintaining his spot in Rangers’ defensive setup for the remaining matches of this season.
Expressing his views to Football Insider, McAvennie stated, “Balogun was exceptional against Hearts. Whether Goldson has been figured out or is getting a rest, I’m unsure.”
He added, “It might frustrate Rangers supporters if Goldson is reintroduced immediately following Balogun’s recent performance.”
Highlighting Balogun’s performance, he concluded, “Balogun was outstanding, just like John Souttar.”
