50 Secondary Schools Set for Upgrades by FG
The initiative to upgrade 50 selected senior secondary schools across the nation has been launched by the Federal Government.
During a recent visit by Commissioner of Education, Dr. John Mamman, Dr. Iyela Ajayi, the Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSCE), made this announcement in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
In a statement from NSSCE’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Fatima Ahmed Bappare, Dr. Ajayi mentioned that Government College, Nasarawa, is one of the schools chosen for upgrading.
Emphasizing the importance of education sector development, Dr. Ajayi highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s significant budget allocation in the 2024 Appropriation Act.
He added, “The earmarked upgrade of the 50 selected senior secondary schools nationwide outlined in the 2024 budget demonstrates the administration’s dedication to the advancement of senior secondary education in the country.”
Dr. Ajayi urged cooperation between the Nasarawa State Ministry of Education and the appointed consultant for a seamless commencement of the upgrade process.
Representing the Commissioner of Education, Permanent Secretary of Nasarawa State Ministry of Education, Mal. Mohammed Sani Bala, expressed gratitude for selecting the state as one of the pilot locations and pledged full support for the successful execution of the upgrade initiative.
