The Government of Ogun Expresses Sympathy for Victims of Ado Odo/Ota Rainstorm and Initiates Response Measures
In the aftermath of a rainstorm caused by Sunday’s heavy rainfall in certain areas of Sango within the Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, the Ogun State Government has been coordinating with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to ensure the swift repair of damaged poles.
A statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, confirmed that a government team visited the affected area on Monday to assess the damage firsthand, plan engagement with IBEDC, and offer support to the victims.
Akinmade pointed out that the cables had not been energized prior to the storm, which likely prevented potential casualties.
“Our team conducted a physical inspection of the affected site on Monday to evaluate the extent of the damage and strategize our collaboration with the IBEDC team,” Akinmade stated.
“We are currently collaborating with the IBEDC team, under the leadership of the Regional Manager and the Technical Head for the Ogun Region. Some partially affected power feeders have been restored and activated, and efforts to clean up the heavily impacted areas are already underway.”
“Most of the poles along the roads have been removed, with the remaining set to be cleared today (Wednesday). We are working closely with IBEDC to ensure full power restoration in Sango Ota before the end of the week.”
“The government remains steadfast in its commitment to restoring power supply to Sango Ota and the surrounding areas, and we assure residents that we are actively addressing the situation.”
