Committee for Resettlement of Displaced Okuama Community Inaugurated by Governor Oborevwori

On Wednesday, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori officially launched the Internally Displaced Persons Management Committee to assist the displaced residents of Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

During the inauguration ceremony in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori emphasized the importance of meticulously planning the resettlement and rehabilitation of the affected individuals from Okuama.

“In condemning the tragic incident that claimed the lives of our dedicated Nigerian Army personnel, we are committed to minimizing the impact on the innocent people of Okuama,” stated Governor Oborevwori.

Addressing the committee members, he stated, “It is imperative that we set up a committee to oversee the strategic resettlement and rehabilitation of our fellow citizens in Okuama. Our goal is to provide them with a sense of belonging as we facilitate their return.”

Chairman of the committee, Abraham Ogbodo, expressed gratitude on behalf of the members for being entrusted with this crucial responsibility by the Governor. He affirmed their dedication to delivering necessary services to the people of Okuama.

As the committee commences its humanitarian efforts in Okuama, their primary focus will be on acting swiftly, transparently, and with utmost dedication towards alleviating the suffering of the displaced individuals.

Notable members of the committee include renowned journalist Mr. Abraham Ogbodo as Chairman, and Chief Austin Emaduku serving as the Secretary, among others who bring diverse expertise and experience to the team.
