Concerns Raised Over Alleged Irregularities Before APC Primaries in Ondo State
A group called the Ondo Vanguard for Good Governance, which is part of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has voiced its worries about the absence of a delegates’ congress ahead of the party’s governorship primaries set for April 20.
It is believed that the congress is essential for identifying eligible party members who can take part in the direct primary election on the designated day.
The group’s chairman, Evangelist Tade Ojo, has criticized the incomplete validation process carried out for party members.
Ojo highlighted that the failure to conduct the delegate congress and the incomplete validation process could lead to potential manipulation of the upcoming primary election.
He expressed disapproval of the alleged attempts to influence the primary election, denouncing it as undemocratic.
Ojo also claimed that there are deliberate attempts to produce fake membership cards for individuals who are not genuine party members, allowing them to participate in the primaries.
In response to these accusations, Kayode Fasua, the Director of Information for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers (LACO-FS), stated that the verification of membership would be digitally conducted, not manually.
“The requirement for voting is a party membership card, which will be verified digitally. The attacks on Aiyedatiwa by these purveyors of falsehood are now in the past. If they have issues, they should address the party leadership and I believe they will receive satisfactory explanations. The APC remains cohesive, with political ambitions aligned with party principles,” he remarked.
