The charred remains of the 13 victims of the Obajana Easter Sunday auto-crash have been released by the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Kogi Command, to their families for burial, according to Mr. Samuel Oyedeji, the Sector Commander in Lokoja.

The corpses were handed over to the families on Wednesday, as confirmed by the commander.

It was reported that the 13 victims lost their lives in a Sharon vehicle that caught fire at Obajana market on Easter Sunday following a collision with a truck from behind.

Two individuals who sustained injuries in the accident are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in the state.

Discussion was held regarding the possibility of a mass burial in Lokoja if the relatives did not claim the bodies. However, following a call from the owner of the involved Sharon bus, it was revealed that all the victims were from Plateau.

Upon the families’ request, the bodies were released for burial and transported to Jos with the assistance of a bus provided for the purpose.

The sector commander expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and offered prayers for their comfort and strength during this difficult time.
