Submission of Forms by Aiyedatiwa Today, Caution to Workers on Politics

Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is set to submit his Nomination and Expression of Interest forms today as a gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the Ondo State governorship election for November 16.

In a statement to NewsNow on Wednesday, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, confirmed that Aiyedatiwa will be in Abuja today to finalize his forms, signaling his preparation for the APC governorship primary on April 20 in Ondo State.

Adeniyan mentioned, “Accompanied by political stakeholders from Ondo State, the governor will submit his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.”

The APC in Ondo has slated April 20 for its gubernatorial primary, with a nine-man committee chaired by Mr Emma Eneukwu appointed by the National Working Committee to oversee the process.

Apart from Aiyedatiwa, over 15 party stalwarts have expressed interest in competing for the gubernatorial ticket.

Leading aspirants who have obtained forms include former House of Representatives member, Mr Mayowa Akinfolarin; former Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Prof Francis Faduyile; ex-governorship aspirant of the APC, Chief Olusola Oke; Mr Gbenga Edema, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, Brig Gen. Olamide Ohunyeye, and others.

However, the ruling party is yet to disclose the primary mode, whether it will be direct, indirect, or a consensus primary.

In a separate development, the state government cautioned civil servants against involvement in partisan politics.

During the commencement of the 2024 promotion exercise for civil servants, State Head of Service Mr Bayo Philip emphasized that civil servants should refrain from engaging in election campaigns in any form.

Philip urged them to focus on their duties and maintain professionalism without getting embroiled in political activities, stating, “Engage your mind more than you engage your mouth.”

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State is a key contender in the upcoming election.

Regarding worker promotions, HoS Philip announced that over 4,200 deserving workers are set for promotion, with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa approving the promotions and associated financial benefits.

He expressed gratitude to the governor and encouraged beneficiaries to reciprocate by delivering exceptional service, emphasizing the ethos of “To whom much is given, much is expected.”

He also advised workers to uphold the integrity of their service by adhering to the motto “Don’t deliver short, don’t deliver late.”
