Police apprehend individual connected to buried dismembered body in Borno

An individual has been captured by the Borno State Police Command in relation to a dismembered body that was found buried in a shallow grave in the Jiddari-Polo vicinity of Maiduguri, the capital of the state.

According to the statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahun Daso, the arrest of the suspect occurred on March 25 in Maiduguri.

The discovery of the decomposed body from the shallow grave on March 11 was prompted by a report submitted by Umar Muhammed, who stumbled upon a grave, a shovel, and two knives in his unfinished structure.

“Following the report, detectives from GRA Police Station visited the location and extracted the body, which was later transported to the State Specialist Hospital Maiduguri for a postmortem examination,” stated Daso.

Furthermore, he revealed that on March 25, police inquiries led to the capture of an individual named Ibrahim Muhammed, who confessed to colluding with his employer, Usman (who is presently on the run), and a laborer named Mustapha Modu, who was responsible for digging the shallow grave where the body was concealed.

“He also admitted to receiving a payment of N1,500 to carry out the task,” added Daso.

The spokesperson affirmed that extensive efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining suspects.
