Manchester City’s Foden Prefers Central Position After Scoring Hat-Trick Against Aston Villa

Phil Foden of Manchester City has expressed his preference for playing centrally rather than on the wings.

This comes after Foden netted a hat-trick in their 4-1 victory over Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.

City, following a goalless draw with Arsenal, their title contenders, came back strong with a convincing win over Unai Emery’s team.

With Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne given a rest by Guardiola, Foden rose to the occasion, increasing his goal count for the season to 21, a career best for him.

The 23-year-old has now made it clear about his best playing position, stating to TNT Sports: “I seem to have some really technical players in the pockets, and I think I can perform that role out wide, but I personally prefer being in the middle.

“I feel like I’ve been developing my game this year. The manager, Pep Guardiola, emphasized the importance of rhythm and slowing down the game, which I believe I have been executing.”
