Kogi State Governor Applauds Tinubu for Enacting Student Loan Law

President Bola Tinubu has received praise from Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, for signing the Nigeria Student Loan Act into law. Tinubu signed the Student Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill, 2024 on Wednesday, following considerations by the Senate and the House of Representatives on the Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund’s report.

In response to the enactment, Ododo emphasized that the Student Loan Act will enhance the quality of education and broaden access to education for numerous Nigerian youth and children from underprivileged social and economic backgrounds.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, the governor expressed, “President Tinubu’s focus on providing quality education to Nigerians demonstrates the significance of education in empowering individuals and enabling more Nigerians to progress socio-economically, regardless of their backgrounds.”

Ododo highlighted that “by approving the Student Loan Act, President Tinubu has showcased exceptional resolve to revamp the education sector in Nigeria, thereby, offering the drive for acquiring the necessary skills to meet the country’s manpower requirements in line with the evolving aspects of the national development agenda.”

He further commended the President for giving precedence to the advancement of education in Nigeria, underlining that the Student Loan Act and its clauses underscore the vital role education plays in President Tinubu’s pursuit of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The governor also reassured of his administration’s dedication to enhancing access to quality education in the state by expanding educational infrastructure and furnishing the necessary resources to equip the youth population with essential skills.
