The Chairman of the Kano Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission, Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, has faced arraignment and suspension by the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, on charges related to alleged abuse of office.

Gado’s charges include alleged breach of the code of conduct for public officers, conflict of interest, abuse of office, false asset declaration, bribery, and acceptance of gifts, among others.

In response to the Complainant’s application, the Tribunal ordered Gado to step aside as the Chairman of the Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission of Kano State. This is due to allegations of infringing the provisions of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act CAP C15 LFN 2004 until the case against the Defendant/Respondent is heard and determined by the Tribunal.

Furthermore, the Tribunal instructed the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the Secretary to the Government of Kano, Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, to appoint an interim Chairman of the Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission until the case against Gado is resolved.

Despite the ruling, sources indicate that Gado intends to challenge the decision, citing existing court orders that restrained his arraignment and questioning the processes of the Code of Conduct Bureau, the EFCC, and other agencies.
