Deadly Strikes in Ukraine’s Kharkiv by Russian Forces

Reports from officials on Thursday revealed that overnight Russian air strikes in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, resulted in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to 11 others.

During a second strike on a residential building in a heavily populated area of Kharkiv, three rescue workers lost their lives, as informed by Igor Terekhov, the city’s mayor, through Telegram.

Additionally, one person was killed in a drone attack on a different building, stated Terekhov, who further mentioned that the fourth victim was a 68-year-old woman, with 11 individuals sustaining injuries during the attacks.

Kharkiv governor Oleg Synegubov reported that Russian forces had deployed “a minimum of 15 drones”, some of which were successfully taken down.

Kharkiv, situated near the northeastern border, continues to be a prime target for Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities, occurring almost nightly.

Ukrainian officials are advocating for increased supply of anti-aircraft defense systems, particularly the modern US-manufactured Patriot systems, from the country’s allies.

However, US military assistance to Ukraine has dwindled, with a $60-billion funding package currently at a standstill in Congress.
