Bandits force nearly 290,000 residents to flee across 12 LGAs in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency, known as KADSEMA, reveals that a staggering 289,375 individuals have been displaced due to bandit attacks spanning 12 Local Government Areas in Kaduna.

During the distribution of relief items at Maraban Kajuru in Kajuru LGA, the Executive Secretary, Usman Mazadu, shared this distressing information on Wednesday.

It is highlighted that the disruptive acts of the bandits have wreaked havoc on residents from 551 different communities.

These numbers are not just mere figures, but they symbolize the lives, hopes, and resilience of our people,’ voiced Mazadu.

As per the data provided, a total of 134 communities have been impacted by bandit activities, resulting in 26,345 people being displaced in Chikun LGA alone.

‘In Birnin Gwari, 84 communities have been affected, displacing 70,893 individuals, along with several other communities in the remaining 12 LGAs,’ added Mazadu.

The commencement of the distribution of aid materials signifies a significant step to assist our compatriots who have been compelled to leave their homes due to unfortunate circumstances in the state.

It is emphasized that this distribution aligns with the governor Uba Sani’s seven-point agenda.

‘Let’s pause and ponder on the numbers that have led us to this point: 289,375 displaced people from 551 affected communities in 12 LGAs epitomize the crucial need for assistance,’ Mazadu remarked.

‘Our compassionate governor has taken action by incorporating this vital population into an N11.4 billion relief program,’ he confirmed.

Furthermore, he assured that aid would reach all affected communities in the 12 LGAs.
