Arrest made by Borno police after corpse unearthed from shallow grave

One suspect has been apprehended by the Borno State Police Command in connection with a body that had been hacked and buried in a shallow grave in the Jiddari-Polo area of Maiduguri, according to the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahun Daso. The suspect was taken into custody on March 25.

A decomposed body was discovered in the shallow grave on March 11 after a report from Umar Muhammed revealed the presence of a grave, a digging tool, and two knives in his unfinished structure.

Upon receiving the report, detectives from GRA Police Station visited the site and extracted the body, which was later transported to State Specialist Hospital Maiduguri for a postmortem examination.

On March 25, the police investigation resulted in the arrest of Ibrahim Muhammed, who admitted to colluding with his master, an individual named Usman who is currently on the run, and Mustapha Modu, a laborer who dug the shallow grave where the body was buried.

He also confessed to receiving a payment of N1,500 to carry out the task,” Daso disclosed.

The spokesperson reassured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
