An Update on Binance Tax Evasion Case: Court Adjourns Hearing to April 19

The tax evasion case involving Binance Holdings Limited and its executives has been adjourned by a Federal High Court in Abuja. The Federal Inland Revenue Service brought the case against the firm for alleged tax evasion.

Alongside the company, officials Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla, who is currently on the run, are also named in the lawsuit.

According to the suit labeled FHC/ABJ/CR/115/2024, Binance is accused of not registering with the FIRS to pay the necessary taxes administered by the service.

FIRS further alleged that despite offering taxable services to subscribers on its trading platform, Binance failed to provide invoices to subscribers for VAT calculations and payments.

The case was postponed on Thursday due to FIRS’ challenge in serving Gambaryan, who is currently in EFCC custody, with the charges.

Meanwhile, the EFCC is pursuing a separate money laundering case against the individuals involved.
