A tragic incident occurred in Osun State, where a female staff member of the University of Ilesa lost her life after a container filled with cashew nuts, being transported by a truck, fell on her car.

The unfortunate accident took place along the Ilesa/Ibodi Expressway, just a short distance from the university’s entrance, causing immediate chaos as bystanders rushed to rescue the victim trapped beneath the heavy container.

The aftermath of the incident led to a traffic standstill on the typically busy road, with the vehicles involved in the collision obstructing a section of the expressway.

Sources within the university revealed that the victim had left the campus at the end of her shift and was en route home when the truck lost control, resulting in the container collapsing onto the woman’s car.

Speaking anonymously, a senior staff member of the university shared with NewsNow, “Our colleague’s vehicle was trapped beneath a container carrying cashew nuts, following the tragic incident that occurred while she was driving home.”

“She had left the campus after her work hours. As she headed towards town, the accident took place, and her well-being is sadly in doubt.”

Confirming the occurrence, Kehinde Adeleke, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Osun State, stated that the victim was found lifeless within her vehicle.

“Our team, alongside other security agencies, responded to the accident scene. Regrettably, the female driver of the car has passed away.”
