Abayomi Babalola, a 35-year-old man, has been apprehended by Amotekun Corps in Osun State on accusations of using dark magic to control a housewife as a sex slave for a period of three weeks.

The arrest was disclosed in a statement released in Osogbo on Wednesday by Yusuf Idowu, the spokesperson for Osun Amotekun Corps. Idowu explained that the suspect, who resides in Modakeke, allegedly employed a magic ring given to him by a cleric to coerce the victim, known only as Sofiyat, out of her husband’s home and relocate her to Modakeke, where she was held captive as a sex slave.

According to the Amotekun spokesperson, the suspect’s luck ran out last week Friday when he abandoned the victim by the roadside in Campus Area, Ile-Ife. Subsequently, the woman regained consciousness and alerted nearby Amotekun operatives.

Upon hearing the woman’s ordeal at the hands of Babalola, the Amotekun operatives tracked the suspect to his hideout in Sekona, where he was arrested.

The statement included, “The suspect confessed that in September 2023, Sofiyat sought his assistance in selling palm oil, which is his trade.

“He then made advances towards her, but she rejected him, citing her marital status. Later, Babalola sought the help of an herbalist in Sekona, who provided him with charms that allegedly made Sofiyat compliant to his commands.

“He controlled Sofiyat through the charm, compelling her to leave her husband’s residence. Upon arriving at Babalola’s house in Modakeke, he changed her SIM card. All these events transpired within three weeks, during which he engaged in intimate acts with her intermittently.”

“Sofiyat had initially sought the suspect’s aid in selling palm oil. Despite her rejection of his advances, Babalola lured her to Modakeke. Once there, he replaced her SIM card and kept her locked inside his residence, providing food at his convenience.

“On March 29, 2024, he transported her to Campus Area in Ile-Ife and left her there. Subsequently, Sofiyat raised an alarm that caught the attention of local Amotekun operatives, leading to the tracking and arrest of the suspect in Sekona.”

The Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (retd.), remarked that the suspect utilized a magical ring on the victim.

Adewinbi further mentioned that the suspect has been handed over to the Department of State Services for further investigation and legal proceedings.
