A destructive windstorm struck Takum local government council of Taraba, causing extensive damage to various parts of the area on Tuesday.

The powerful windstorm was accompanied by a prolonged heavy downpour, resulting in the severe destruction of numerous houses.

Areas significantly impacted in the council include Angwan Rogo and Cameroon quarters, among others.

As of now, business operations have come to a halt as residents are assessing the wreckage of their homes and possessions.

Several affected individuals revealed that the windstorm, combined with intense rainfall, ripped off the roofs of more than fifty houses.

They have requested assistance from the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in the form of relief materials.

In response to the situation, the state governor, Dr. Agbu Kafes, dispatched a team to the affected local government to assess the extent of the damage caused by the windstorm.

The delegation comprises officials such as the Commissioner of Transportation Development, Yakubu Samaila Yakubu, and the Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development.
