Approval granted by Bayelsa assembly for 24 special advisers for governor

It has been confirmed that the Bayelsa State House of Assembly has given their consent to Governor Douye Diri in appointing 24 special advisers.

The approval from the assembly came after the governor sent a letter to the legislative body, requesting permission for the appointment of these advisors.

The letter, titled ‘Request for approval for the appointment of Special Advisers,’ did not include any specific names. It was read on the assembly floor by the Clerk of the House, Adogu Kent, during the Tuesday plenary chaired by Speaker Abraham Ingobere.

According to the letter, “I am seeking the House of Assembly’s approval for the designation of 24 Special Advisers to the Governor.

“The purpose of these appointments is to ensure effective governance and the realization of the state’s prosperity vision.

“This is in line with the provisions of Section 196 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended.”

The motion for the assembly’s approval of the governor’s request was raised by the representative of Southern Ijaw Constituency 2, Edwin Bubou-Obolo, and seconded by Marlon Moses from Southern Ijaw Constituency 3.

Both legislators unanimously agreed that the approval was crucial to offer legislative backing to the government.
