A demand has been made by some key members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the North Central region to have the party’s national chairmanship seat zoned to their area.

Stressing the region’s significant contribution to the growth and sustainability of the APC, they emphasized the merit of granting the national chairmanship position to the North Central.

This call came after a virtual meeting held via Zoom on Thursday, with the presence of leaders from the North Central APC Forum and prominent party figures.

Addressing the press in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, Saleh Mandung Zazzaga articulated that the North Central region had been a steadfast pillar of support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

As a member of the Presidential Campaign Council during the previous general elections, Zazzaga highlighted the region’s historical role in fostering democratic advancement since the post-military era.

He emphasized the significance of acknowledging the North Central’s efforts and stressed the importance of zoning the National Chairmanship seat to the region.

Pointing out the capable individuals from the North Central who could excel as the party’s National Chairman, Zazzaga mentioned names such as Chief Amos Gizo, Engr. Sani Ndanusa, and Yahaya Bello, among others.

He also mentioned ongoing efforts to rally stakeholders, interest groups, and party supporters from the region to unite in the pursuit of securing the National Chairmanship position.

Urging the APC leadership to give due consideration to their request, Zazzaga highlighted the critical role played by the North Central in the party’s electoral successes from 2015 to 2023.

He affirmed their commitment to advancing the cause for the upliftment of the North Central region, expressing their unwavering loyalty to the APC and dedication to its success.

Emphasizing the next steps, Zazzaga stated plans for extensive consultations, advocacy visits to national and regional party leaders, and engagement with relevant bodies to champion their cause.
