Two Suspects in Army Uniform Arrested by Police in Nasarawa; Cash and Weapons Recovered

Authorities in Nasarawa State have apprehended two alleged armed robbers who have been carrying out crimes in the Ekye Development Area situated in Doma Local Government Area.

A statement released by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, revealed that the arrests were made following a tip-off from concerned residents.

The suspects have been identified as Abdullahi Basso and Saidu Isah.

The police department had received consistent reports of armed robberies occurring weekly on Thursday nights by individuals disguised in military attire along the Doma-Rukubi Road within the Ekye neighborhood.

Upon receiving the complaints, law enforcement officials stationed at Ekye Division set up a strategic ambush at Kwanar Kare, a notorious location along the Doma-Rukubi Road commonly used by armed robbers to intercept and rob unsuspecting passersby.

“Abdullahi Basso and Saidu Isah, both residents of Rugan Maigari in Rukubi village, were captured at the scene dressed in military outfits while preparing to execute their criminal activity. Authorities recovered three hundred thousand naira (N300,000) in cash, a knife, and other incriminating items from the suspects as evidence,” the statement detailed.

Furthermore, the suspects reportedly confessed to a recent robbery where they targeted an individual named Mallam Barka at the same location, seizing the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000) from their victim.
