A significant member of the Obedient Movement in the Southeast States, Ambassador Obinna Ukor, has officially switched from the Labour Party (LP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi State.

Ukor’s decision to join the APC was influenced by the commendable efforts of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, who has demonstrated exceptional leadership beyond mere party politics.

The transition took place on Friday night at the Party’s state Headquarters in Abakaliki, the capital city of Ebonyi.

Reflecting on his political journey, Ukor expressed, “Today marks a significant point in my political trajectory as I formerly belonged to the Labour Party, LP, and the Obedient Movement. The progress observed in Ebonyi State under Governor Nwifuru’s leadership is remarkable, and I urge my compatriots in the Diaspora to collaborate with our governor for the advancement of our state because Ebonyi’s prosperity concerns us all.”

Joining Ukor in the APC was Fred Ukor, his cousin, who lauded Governor Nwifuru’s administration in Ebonyi for its impactful youth empowerment initiatives that have uplifted the lives of street vendors and low-income earners.

Commending the Governor’s efforts, Fred Ukor stated, “Upon our return to Nigeria from abroad, we initially aligned with the Labour Party but soon realized its inadequacies. Witnessing Governor Nwifuru’s positive interventions for the youth and street vendors has significantly transformed our state. Thus, we are here to collaborate with him in the state-building process.”

Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the state chairman of the APC, welcomed the new members and appreciated their active involvement in the 2023 general elections. Emegha emphasized the significance of unity and urged them to channel the same vigor they exhibited during the obedient movement towards supporting Governor Nwifuru’s transformative agenda for the state.

Acknowledging the need for solidarity, Emegha remarked, “Now is the opportune moment for us to unite as enthusiastic individuals to provide unwavering support to Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru as we witness his impactful actions in the state.”
