In defiance of a group’s assertions, Alphonsus Eba has reaffirmed his position as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State.

Eba has discredited the group’s suspension claim, asserting that he still holds the role of party chairman in the state.

The group, self-proclaimed party stakeholders, issued a letter signed by Chief Mark Nomba Ayo (Chairman) and Chief Mathias Ake (Secretary), indefinitely suspending Eba and appointing Mr. James Alicha as the acting state chairman.

During a phone conversation with NewsNow, Eba declared, “I am currently at my office. I am the APC chairman in Cross River State.”

He argued that his ability to access the state party Secretariat in Calabar contradicts the alleged suspension.

In the letter addressed to the National Chairman of APC and copied to the state governor, DSS, Commissioner of Police, and Resident Electoral Commissioner, the group detailed various purported infractions committed by Eba, citing breaches of the party’s Constitution.

According to the group, Eba has been operating as a sole administrator, showcasing high-handedness and hostility since assuming office.

“We, the undersigned legitimate members representing Cross River State APC Stakeholders and acting in the best interest, progress, and welfare of our esteemed party and a significant portion of our membership statewide, have collectively agreed to suspend Alphonsus Eba as the State Chairman of our party,” the statement read.
