Banks CEOs NICA others mourn Wigwe

The late Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, is being mourned by the Body of Banks’ Chief Executive Officers in Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, among others. The chairman of the Body of Banks CEOs, Ebenezer Onyeagwu, described Wigwe as a transformational leader who had a significant impact on the banking industry and the economy. Wigwe, along with his wife, son, and a former Group Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group, lost his life in a helicopter crash in the United States of America.

The President of the CIBN, Ken Opara, also praised Wigwe as a visionary leader and a corporate titan with a lasting legacy. Additionally, the National Institute of Credit Administration acknowledged Wigwe’s huge contributions to the credit industry and the economy. The Bank Directors Association of Nigeria also expressed its deep sadness at the loss of Wigwe and a former Group Chairman of Nigeria Exchange Group Plc, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, in the helicopter crash.

These organizations expressed their heartfelt condolences and emphasized the significant impact Wigwe had on the banking industry and beyond.
