The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State is facing a potential legal challenge from nine aspirants following the governorship primary held on February 22, 2024. These aspirants have boycotted recent congress events and are threatening legal action if their concerns are not addressed.

The aggrieved aspirants, including Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, and others, have raised objections to the composition of party officials appointed for the delegate congress. They boycotted the recent local delegate congress due to their dissatisfaction with the preceding ward congress.

Aslem Ojezua, speaking on behalf of the aggrieved aspirants, highlighted their efforts to seek resolution through the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanism. He emphasized their willingness to pursue legal action should their grievances remain unaddressed.

He urged their supporters to remain calm and assured them that accountability for the party’s challenges in Edo State will be established in due course.
