Armed Herdsmen in Benue Kill 2 and Injure Others in Another Attack

In Umogidi community of Adoka District in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, a fresh attack by armed herdsmen has resulted in the death of two individuals and multiple injuries.

This attack occurred shortly after a similar incident claimed the lives of 10 individuals in the same community, according to reports from NewsNow.

Joseph Adakole, a local resident, revealed that his uncle and cousin were among the victims of the recent assault, where the assailants invaded the community on Thursday evening and opened fire.

Caretaker Chairman of Otukpo, Alfred Omakwu, stated that aside from the two fatalities, the attackers also confronted the deployed military and security personnel before eventually retreating and issuing threats of a possible return, although the community has now regained a sense of calm.

“Since Friday, the situation has been relatively peaceful, with an increased military presence. However, we continue to receive threats from the attackers. Two of our youths were killed on Thursday. Upon their arrival in the community, they engaged our youth and the military as well,” remarked Omakwu.

Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent SP Catherine Anene, has not yet been informed about the latest developments.
