Following the directive of Justice Florence Doruoha-Igwe (retd), the chairman of the Abia State judicial panel of inquiry on the recovery of government property and funds, Plot 43 Finbars Road Umuahia has been temporarily sealed off. The action is pending the conclusion of the investigation on the structure.

Personnel believed to be from the Umuahia Capital Development Authority, UCDA, sealed the structure on Wednesday.

Justice Doruoha-Igwe, during the judicial panel’s sitting on Wednesday, declared that the structure housing PDP’s secretariat belongs to the Abia State government. This ruling resulted in her ordering the senior lead counsel to the panel, H. N. Doruoha, to serve notice on the Abia State chairman of PDP, Alwell Asiforo Okere, and the immediate past Commissioner for Lands, Chidi Onwuchuruba, to appear before the panel on February 16 for further details on the PDP structure.

Additionally, the ongoing investigation of their activities in office led to the appearance of the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Benson Ojeikere, and some former permanent secretaries before the panel. Ojeikere alleged improper accounting records, undocumented government projects and activities, and the improper bequeathing of official vehicles to government appointees without due process upon assuming office.

Former permanent secretary of the Abia State Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Mba Okereke, clarified that he was not responsible for revenue collection or project implementation during his tenure.

Former Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Mrs Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne, affirmed that there was no employment racketeering or biased employment practices during her tenure.
