In the recent 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace, Chelsea’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, disclosed that Noni Madueke was not the designated penalty taker for the team.

The thrilling match saw Michael Olise scoring a spectacular equalizer after Mykhailo Mudryk opened the scoring at Stamford Bridge.

During the final minutes of the game, the Blues were awarded a penalty following a VAR review.

Pochettino explained that the intended penalty taker, captain Conor Gallagher, had deferred the responsibility to Madueke, who calmly converted the crucial winning goal.

Regarding the decision to allow Noni Madueke to take the penalty in place of Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer, who were suspended, Pochettino stated: “It was Conor [Gallagher], and I told him ‘you should take it, but if you don’t feel confident, give it to Noni’.”

Expressing his satisfaction, Pochettino praised Madueke’s hunger and confidence as he came off the bench and made an impact.
