Prophet El-Buba Warns of Self-Help if Carnage in Plateau Continues Unabated

Calling on the federal government, the Initiative for Better and Brighter Nigeria (IBBN) demanded urgent measures to put an end to the senseless killings of innocent Nigerians in Plateau State and nationwide. The group also urged President Bola Tinubu to suspend his holidays and take swift action to strengthen security, including proposing a comprehensive bill for state policing to the National Assembly, in order to prevent the daily bloodshed and suffering of struggling citizens.

These demands were made by the Convener of the group, Prophet Isa El-Buba, during a press briefing in Jos, the Plateau State Capital, on Thursday.

On Christmas Eve, over twenty communities in Bokkos and Barkin Ladi LGAs of Plateau State were plunged into violence, resulting in the deaths of over a hundred people, numerous injuries, and the destruction of homes and livelihoods.

Expressing his distress, El-Buba stated, “I am deeply saddened by the repeated and distressing news and disturbing images of the brutal massacre of innocent Plateau citizens in Bokkos, Mangu and Barkin-Ladi villages.”

“The relentless and unchecked organized invasions and bloodshed by Fulani militia terrorists, seemingly on a mission to seize and annex land in Plateau, is becoming all too frequent. This raises suspicions that certain quarters may be complicit in these killings.

“How else can the government’s ongoing helplessness in the face of the continual attacks on its citizens be explained?”

“Are these assailants spirits that they remain undeterred despite continuous military patrols?

“The brazen frequency and ease with which these attackers operate without resistance on the Plateau and elsewhere in today’s Nigeria is truly perplexing.”

“We want to express our frustration and exhaustion with these provocatively violent killings,” El-Buba emphasized.

He warned, “If the government repeatedly fails in its duty to protect the lives of its citizens, we will not tolerate it any longer, and we will mobilize our people to defend themselves against these bloodthirsty land-grabbing demons. Yes, we are capable!”

“The government must take all necessary actions to repel these terrorist elements before citizens resort to self-help.

“Enough is enough! The people cannot continue to bear the brunt of the government’s incompetence,” lamented the Convener.
